NYC: Papaya Dog – Breakfast for Under a Buck
Still full from the previous night’s meal and eager to begin my 1st day exploring New York City, I looked for a light breakfast. A few minutes from our hotel, at the foot of the Empire State Building, and on the edge of Koreatown, something caught my eye…
Do you see what I saw?
99¢ breakfast baby!
Papaya Dog, known for their hotdogs, had a “2 Eggs Potatoes & Toast” breakfast for under a buck.
The “chef” was quick with the spatula and surprisingly friendly.
So how was the food?
Not bad. The eggs and bread were fine, but the soggy potatoes were saturated with a strange and spicy seasoning salt. But for 99¢, who am I to complain? I even overlooked the fact that I had nowhere to sit, forcing me to eat standing up on Fifth Avenue.
Not the most glamorous meal but whatever – it’s not like NYC is paved in gold.

Oh wow … you know, you share a lot of what we do in common. For one, today we had dinner in Posh and checking your site today, you had just done a review on them. And now you’re in NYC. Was there in summer last year and will make s return trip again this summer.
Where do you live? Richmond?
Keep it up!
Ben
Thanks for visiting our site Ben. I’m a subscriber of your’s :)
I actually live in Vancouver; Dan who also blogs here is in Burnaby.
I must admit, however, that I do a lot of my eating in Richmond – must be the cheap Chinese food ;)
It’s funny how people seem to gravitate towards the same restaurants. Whenever I go through your blog, I see restaurants that I always go to as well! Next time I eat out, if I see someone taking pictures, I’m gonna assume that it’s you guys :) Of course, you also blog restaurants that I haven’t visited… but am now planning to visit – I guess that’s the whole point of this sharing thing :)
Cheers!
