News: Summer Night Market 2009 has begun!
It’s that time of year again…
The Richmond Summer Night Market opened its doors tonight for yet another iteration of the popular summer festival. It’s open every weekend until October 4th, 2009.
Same venue: 12631 Vulcan Way, Richmond, B.C. (behind the Home Depot)
Same hours: 7PM – 12AM on Fridays & Saturdays, 7PM – 11PM on Sundays
Same crappy merchandise.
Same headache-inducing parking.
Same claustrophobic crowds?
Same delicious street food!
We’ll be visiting soon. Will Ed continue his tradition of eating a Mango UFO? Will Dan get arrested for purchasing pirated DVDs? Will the Summer Night Market be shut down by a federal court ordered injunction?
All these questions will be answered soon! Stay tuned!
You forgot to mention the stomachache after eating truckloads of greasy, salty, food, hehehehehe.
Yaaaaaaaaa nightmarket!
Did you guys just recently put in RSS? I feel like I haven’t read any of this stuff in a while (I read all my subs through google reader) so yea….o_o
The amount of counterfeit and knock off goods is especially high this year.
Rock band? No. Crazy Guitar. Sega? No. Wega. Wii? No. Wu.

Even to the point of knockoff food…
Japadog? No. Japanese Hot Dog. Terimayo? No. Terrimayo. (That’s what it says on the sign)

(Though its not hard to knock off a hot dog, and its just a matter of time.)
@Kevin, we do have RSS for quite a while now. Two actually. The wordpress one from http://eatsnaprepeat.ca and from feedburner http://feeds2.feedburner.com/EatSnapRepeat
Now that you mention Wii vs. Wü, during the Chinese Night Market (the one in Main Street) last year, I noticed that as well. When I was trying to take a picture of it (will open a new window), somebody started to block me. I just walked a bit farther and bring the bigger lens, hehehehe.
@KimHo, very funny someone tried to block you. How’s the Chinatown night market compared to Richmond? I went once maybe 10 years ago, and never again. I wonder if the quality has improved, now that there’s competition.
I have not been to Richmond’s in a while (last time about two, if not three years ago). But, even if that was several years ago, if I use that as a reference, that was a lot better than the one in Chinatown last year.
1 п. “Не имей сто друзей, а имей сто шекелей” тоже хорошо рифмуется :)
8 п. Ты никогда не потеряешь работу. Когда закончатся фотографии можно размещать рисунки (да хоть бы и конкурс объявить на лучший рисунок Одри (-:), аппликации и фотографии поделок из пластилина…
9 п. Сто пудов ! :)
Marinkina:
…
Um. That makes no sense.
Let’s run that through Google Translator.

1 p. “There should have one hundred friends, and should have one hundred shekels” too good rhymes:)
8 p. You will never lose your job. When finished, you can post photos pictures (yes indeed, and would announce a competition for the best picture Audrey (-:), application and photo craft projects from plasticine …
9 p. Hundred poods! :)
——————————————————-
That’s better.
…
Um. That makes no sense.
Will there be any cute backpacks?
o___________o
email me please.
><
I will totally let you know if there will be cute backpacks, Stranger. I’m all about cute backpacks.
The most important lesson I learned as a kid was to never talk to Stranger dan.
yay!! excellent!!
well..
I think personally, this year.. sucks!!
Many stalls are empty unlike last year’s and many food stalls are changing ( the usuals are not there anymore)..
and no more bulk sales at night time!!!!
I recently went and had a blast at the Richmond night market. I tried a lot of the recommendations from Wendy’s blog (Eat n About) and they were all new discoveries for me.
I think my favourite was the bbq skewers at Point Zero BBQ. They were so good that we went back for seconds. I’m also thinking about checking out their restaurant location.
I did some shopping (dvds, jewelry, cute handheld fans, etc.) and I was totally broke by the end of the night. I never bring enough cash.
My game plan is usually to get there between 6 and 6:30 pm, find free street parking and scope out the food before it goes crazy. Usually, by the time we’ve had our fill, the crowds are building, we then shop and get ourselves out of there pronto.
I’m sure it’s a totally different vibe when it gets dark, but I always start to feel a bit claustrophobic by then.
They have a midway area now called the Playzone. My kids love it and there’s even stuff for me and the wife to enjoy like a massage while the kids play. Way to go.
Dance dance revolution, Skee-ball, bowling. Awesome!!
